NASCAR - Who Would Have Won?
"It’s interesting that under this system Dale Earnhardt Sr would have only two championships in spite of his perceived domination of the sport...."
At least they’re making it interesting!
With Carl Edwards qualifying fourth and Jimmie Johnson starting 30th, there is a chance Jimmie could finish below 38th overall, with Edwards leading the most laps and winning the event to claim his first Sprint Cup National Title. But I really don’t see that happening. Johnsom isn’t going to be content running near the rear. [...]
Double Clutchin’-The Good, The Bad, And ABC
First off, apologies to all for no posts in a while; the reasons for my absence are numerous and personal, but I’m happy to be back with you for the last bite of the NASCAR season.  I’m going to do this post in reverse today so let us get this party started: The Ugly: ABC.  Oh my [...]
Get the trophy ready!
After the fall trip to the desert, the Chase is virtually over. With Jimmie Johnson leading Carl Edwards by 141 points I think it would be safe to drop the hardware off at jewelry store and have Jimmies name printed on the trophy for the third consecutive time. Only Cale Yarborough had earlier managed that [...]
Double Clutchin’-The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly From Atlanta
Well, Atlanta has come and gone, and although Carl Edwards won the race, did the backflip, and had a pretty good day, Jimmie Johnson still managed to finish second and in the process he made winning his third straight championship an almost certainty. Carl’s post-victory interview was priceless.  How good was it when he climbed out [...]
Hotlanta…, and the Chase that was!
Something had to go wrong for the pack to catch up with points leader Jimmie Johnson, and everybody else would have to bring their “A” effort. Of course Jimmie started on the pole again, thanks to Nascar’s rainy route to the championship. So Johnson once again got the choice of his pit spot. Maybe the [...]
Double Clutchin’-The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly From Martinsville
Some late posting this week due to sundry reasons that kept me from posting earlier. So, with apologies given, let us go right into things and talk a little bit about Martinsville. The Good: Somebody should really think about just handing Jimmie Johnson the deed to Martinsville. For the fourth time in five races, Johnson [...]
Brian Vickers And Crew Get Fined
NASCAR took the sledgehammer out of the shed and brought it down squarely on the head of Brian Vickers and his crew after finding a pretty glaring problem with Vickers’ car upon inspection. The problem? The team went Woodstock on the car’s sheet metal and dipped it in acid so it would be [...]
Rain is a four letter word that means qualifying!
Nine times this year rain has washed out Sprint Cup Qualifying. In most of those cases the Sprint Cup guys still had one, or two, practice runs. Apparently not at Martinsville, unless they let them practice Saturday. NASCAR needs to make some changes to avoid this points only line-ups and starting grids. This is especially [...]
Double Clutchin’-The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly From LMS
It’s fitting that the Bank of America 500 took place in the former home of Mid-Atlantic wrestling. The race was over-shadowed for most of the week by the fight between Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick, but when the lights came on, it was the grizzled veteran Jeff Burton who took the checkered flag. [...]
